Come to

HIIT

High Intensity Interval Training

A typical HIIT session involves alternating between bursts of high intensity exercise followed by active rest or low intensity exercise over set periods of time, usually between 10 seconds and one minute.

The idea is that you never stay on one exercise for too long, constantly shocking the body and constantly taking the heart rate up and down.

 Why do we do it?

  • Improves cardiovascular fitness

  • Builds lean muscle, burns fat

  • The body continues to burn calories at a greater rate for several hours after workout

  • Very little time needed for a workout

  • No equipment needed

  • Greater fitness benefits than continuous training e.g. running at a steady state

  • Increases metabolism

  • Improves biomechanics and can reduce risk of injury
